The Hybrid Cloud Database Product Owner will be part of a team which designs, builds, and operates the global Azure, AWS, and On-premises environments of Siemens Healthineers (SHS) and is the senior technical leader for database technologies for IT. The Hybrid Cloud Database Product Owner position is a Senior Database Administration position for both on-premises databases as well as Cloud Azure and AWS database solutions.
The ideal candidate for this role will have IT infrastructure experience in both Cloud and On-premises database administration. The role will require the candidate to provide technical expertise to build product features in and around cloud/on-premises database servers and database instances to solve a set of business requirements. The role also requires strategic planning and delivery of database platforms and features which enable organization goals including cost savings, high availability, disaster recovery, increase in speed of product, reduction in time to delivery, database platform documentation, leadership of the DBA Operations team, agile management of work delivery, knowledge base creation, and excellent communication.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Database Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the development of a database product. The main responsibilities include:
Defining product vision and strategy: The PO should establish clear long-term goals for the database product and align it with the overall business strategy.
Gathering customer requirements: The PO should conduct market research, gather and analyze customer feedback and requirements, and incorporate this information into the product roadmap to prioritize product features and enhancements.
Designing database architecture: Creating an efficient, scalable, and secure database design that meets the product requirements.
Defining the product backlog: The PO should create a prioritized list of product features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps for the development team to work.
Collaborating with development team: Work closely with the development team to ensure the product backlog is understood and feasible, implemented correctly, and that product development is on track and aligned with business goals.
Developing database product: Implementing the database design, security controls to protect sensitive data stored in the database and data validation rules and quality controls to ensure data stored in the database is accurate and reliable.
Documenting database product: Writing technical documentation for the database product to ensure that the design, development, and maintenance practices are well-documented.
Ensuring product quality: The PO is responsible for ensuring that the product meets customer needs and exceeds their expectations, and that it is tested and delivered with high quality.
Monitoring product performance: Keeping track of product usage, performance metrics, and customer feedback, and identify areas for improvement and new opportunities.
Budgeting and forecasting: Estimating the costs and revenue associated with the product and ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately.
Risk management: The PO should assess and manage risks associated with product development and delivery.
Defining support processes: Defining the processes for ongoing support and maintenance of the product in the study state including training the operations team on the product's usage, maintenance, and any necessary troubleshooting procedures.
Communicating with stakeholders: Keeping stakeholders informed of product status, plans, and roadmaps, and seeking their input as needed.
Ability to respond 24x7 to a disaster recovery event.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in IT and database administration in hybrid cloud environments
Good level of written and spoken English
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Experience in designing, developing, and delivering successful database products.
Experience with the implementation of IaaS and PaaS Databases in Azure or AWS
Familiarity with cloud computing technologies, such as AWS or Azure, is desirable.
Relevant industry certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, etc. is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Database management: In-depth knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, NoSQL, Domino, and Azure & AWS cloud database PaaS offerings. Strong knowledge of database management systems such as SQL Sentry, SQL Management Studio, and Oracle Enterprise Grid Control.
Database design: Ability to design and implement efficient, high availability (HA) and scalable databases, considering the needs of the organization and end-users. Ability to build Disaster recovery (DR) solutions for databases to ensure the availability and accessibility of critical data in the event of a disaster.
SQL proficiency: Strong skills in SQL programming, including data modeling, query optimization, and indexing.
Database security: Understanding of database security concepts and ability to implement appropriate security measures to protect sensitive data.
Performance tuning: Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in database systems and implement performance tuning techniques to optimize performance.
Database & Data migration: Ability to plan and execute database and data migration projects, including the migration of database from on-prem to cloud and the transfer of data from one database to another.
Backup and recovery: Understanding of backup and recovery concepts and ability to implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure the availability of data. Experience with Commvault and Cohesity are a plus.
Cloud computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure and ability to deploy and manage databases in cloud environments.
Technical writing: The ability to write technical documentation and presentations is important for communicating product plans, roadmaps, and requirements to stakeholders.
